Privacy Policy

1. Scope and who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to the Video Downloader Android application and related support pages provided by Wavento. In this policy, "Video Downloader," "Wavento," "we," "us," and "our" refer to Wavento as the app developer and service provider.

Video Downloader is an on-device browser, download manager, media library, and player. It does not require a Wavento account.

2. Information the app handles

Browser activity

When you use the built-in browser, the app may store open tabs, page addresses, page titles, browsing history, bookmarks, recent sites, search settings, cookies, website storage, and cached web content on your device. You can clear history, cookies, and cache separately from Settings.

Media and download information

To find and download media, the app processes page URLs, direct media URLs, media type, quality, file name, size, download progress, source page, and technical request details needed by the source website, such as a user agent, referrer, or session cookie. Active download information and related request data may remain on your device while a download can be resumed. Terminal cleanup removes request credentials that are no longer needed.

Completed media, thumbnails, download records, and library metadata are stored on your device. Files you publish to shared storage may appear in Android media collections and may be available to other apps that you authorize.

Private Folder

Files moved to Private Folder are stored in the app's private storage and protected by your Android biometric or device credential. Private Folder files are excluded from Android cloud backup and device transfer. Changes to your biometric or device security configuration can make existing private files unavailable or unrecoverable.

Permissions and device information

Depending on your Android version and the features you use, the app may request access to notifications and video media. Notifications show background download progress and completion. Media access lets you browse or play videos made available to the app. Android also provides ordinary technical information needed to run the app, such as app version, Android version, network availability, and device capabilities.

Crash diagnostics and analytics

The app uses Firebase Crashlytics to help us identify and fix crashes and stability problems. When a crash or serious error occurs, Crashlytics may automatically receive a crash log, stack trace, app state, app version, Android version, device model, device and installation identifiers, memory and storage information, timestamps, and related technical diagnostics. Network requests may also expose an IP address to Google.

The app also includes Google Analytics for Firebase. We do not record events of our own design. What it collects is what the Firebase SDK collects automatically, which may include app opens, screen views, session length and counts, app version, Android version, device model, language, general location derived from an IP address, and an app instance identifier that Google generates for this installation.

We do not use crash or analytics information for advertising or behavioral profiling. We do not intentionally attach your browsing history, downloaded media, or media file contents to crash reports. A diagnostic log may still include limited technical context active when the failure occurred.

Advertising

This version of the app shows advertisements supplied by third-party advertising networks. To select and measure those advertisements, the network may receive your advertising ID, IP address, general location derived from it, device and app information, and records of the advertisements you were shown and interacted with. The advertising network acts on its own behalf for this processing and its own privacy policy applies.

You can reset or delete your advertising ID, and limit ad personalisation, in Android Settings under Privacy > Ads. Doing so does not remove advertisements; it limits how far they are tailored to you.

We do not give the advertising network your browsing history from inside the app, the addresses of pages you visit, the media you download, or the contents of your files.

Reports and feedback you send

The app has two separate ways of telling us something is wrong, and they behave differently. Both write to a Firebase Firestore database that Wavento operates. They are not emailed, and they are stored on our provider's servers rather than passed straight to a person.

Report this page

When media on a page cannot be downloaded, the app offers a Report this page button. A single tap sends us the address of that page together with an internal error code and a count of how many times you reported it. The page address is the content of this report, so unlike the feedback form below there is nothing optional to leave out. The report is recorded on your device first and uploaded in the background a few minutes later, so it is sent even though no result is shown to you. It contains no free text.

Send feedback

From Settings, or from a page you had trouble with, you can write to us. We receive the category you select, the description you type, the time you wrote it, and whether you started from Settings or from a specific page. If you started from a page, its address is attached only while you leave that switch on.

Both kinds of report also include your app version, your Android version, and a random identifier the app generates for this installation. That identifier is not your advertising ID, not your Android ID, and is not derived from anything about your device or about you; it lets us tell repeated reports from one installation apart from reports by many people, and it is destroyed when you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.

The app does not attach your full browsing history, cookies, media file contents, downloaded file names, or your device model to either kind of report. Do not include passwords, authentication details, confidential information, or personal information that is not needed to explain the issue.

3. Built-in browser and third-party websites

Websites opened inside the app are independent third parties. They may receive your IP address, browser and device information, requested URL, cookies, form entries, and other information in the same way they would in another browser. Their privacy policies and terms govern their collection and use of information.

The app may block known advertising or tracking requests when its ad-blocking setting is enabled. This does not guarantee that every tracker, advertisement, or unsafe page will be blocked. Do not enter sensitive information into a website unless you trust that website.

4. Network services and sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use crash reports or the reports you send us for advertising.

Websites and media hosts

The page address and network request information required to display a website, detect media, and download a file.

RapidAPI and the social resolver

For supported social websites, the selected source page URL is sent to Social Download All In One through RapidAPI so the app can obtain available media options. The response may include a title, author name, thumbnail, duration, and temporary media links.

Google Firebase

Firebase Crashlytics processes crash reports and technical diagnostics so we can monitor stability, investigate failures, and improve the app. Google Analytics for Firebase processes the automatic usage measurements described above. Firebase Firestore stores the page reports and feedback you send, described above, on Google infrastructure under Wavento's control.

Advertising network

Receives the advertising ID and technical request information needed to select, deliver, and measure advertisements shown in the app.

Google Play and Android

Google Play distributes the app. Android system services may handle notifications, media access, device credentials, and app backup according to your device and Google account settings.

Hosting providers

Our legal pages may produce standard server logs such as IP address, browser type, time, and requested URL for delivery, security, and operations.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users and rights, to investigate abuse, or as part of a business transaction, subject to applicable law.

5. How we use information

We use information only as reasonably necessary to:

• Display websites and manage tabs, history, bookmarks, cookies, and browser settings.
• Detect downloadable media and present available file or quality options.
• Start, resume, complete, organize, share, and play downloads.
• Protect Private Folder and perform device credential checks.
• Detect, diagnose, and fix crashes, errors, and performance or compatibility problems.
• Receive and investigate the page reports and feedback you send, and identify which sites the app is failing on.
• Measure basic usage, such as how often the app is opened and which screens are reached, to decide what to fix and improve.
• Maintain app security, prevent misuse, and comply with legal obligations.

6. Storage, backup, retention, and security

Most app information remains on your Android device until you delete it, clear the relevant browser data, remove a download record, delete a file, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app. Website cookies and caches may follow their own expiration rules.

Android backup may include eligible app settings and database records according to your device and Google account configuration. In-progress download files and Private Folder files are excluded from the app's Android backup and transfer rules. Completed files in shared storage are controlled through Android and the destination where they are saved.

A source URL sent to the social resolver is processed under the provider's retention and security practices. Temporary media links may also pass through the source platform's content delivery network.

Crash diagnostics and analytics are retained according to our Firebase configuration and Google's applicable retention practices, and only for as long as reasonably needed to monitor stability, investigate failures, and comply with legal obligations. Page reports and feedback are stored in our Firestore database and retained for as long as reasonably needed to investigate and respond, prevent repeated abuse, improve the app, resolve disputes, and meet legal requirements. Repeated reports of the same page from one installation replace each other rather than accumulating.

We use reasonable technical measures appropriate to the app. No device, storage method, or network transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your choices and privacy rights

• You can deny or revoke notification and media permissions in Android Settings.
• You can clear browser cache, history, and cookies from the app's Settings screen.
• You can delete bookmarks, download records, downloaded files, and Private Folder items through available app or Android controls.
• You can avoid the social resolution service by not requesting downloads from supported social pages.
• You can choose not to write feedback, and you can turn off the switch that attaches the page address when you write from a specific page.
• You can choose not to tap Report this page. That button sends the page address as its entire content, so there is no way to send it without the address; not tapping it is the choice.
• The app does not currently offer an in-app switch for crash reporting or analytics. Where your local law gives you a right to object to or restrict this processing, contact us using the details below.
• You can clear app data or uninstall the app to remove data held in the app's local storage, subject to files saved in shared storage and any Android backup.
• You can contact us to exercise privacy rights available under your local law.

We may need information from you to verify and respond to a request. Because the app has no Wavento account, we may not be able to identify or retrieve information that exists only on your device.

8. Children's privacy

Video Downloader is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age where required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through a Wavento account because the app does not provide accounts. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information to us.

9. International processing

Third-party websites, RapidAPI, the social resolution provider, Google Firebase, Google Play, and hosting providers may process and store information in countries other than your own. Their processing is governed by their terms, safeguards, and applicable law.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app, its providers, or applicable law changes. We will post the updated policy here and revise the date above. We may provide additional notice for material changes where required.
